If your AstralPool IXI or Zodiac JXi heater keeps turning off, the cause is usually overheating, poor water flow, ignition instability, or a safety shutdown triggered by a fault message.
When an IXI or JXi gas pool heater starts and then shuts down repeatedly, it usually means the heater is detecting a condition that is unsafe for continued operation.
This guide explains the most common reasons an IXI or JXi heater keeps switching off and what to check next.
IXI and JXi gas pool heaters are designed to shut down automatically if they detect unsafe temperature, poor flow, or combustion faults.
If the heater runs briefly and then turns off, it is usually because heat is building up too quickly inside the heater or the burner cannot continue operating correctly.
This often overlaps with a High Limit fault or a Check Flow fault.
If shutdown happens during burner operation, also inspect the High Flue Temperature fault guide.

If your IXI or JXi heater keeps turning off after restoring water flow and performing the basic checks above, professional diagnosis is recommended.
