IXI & JXi Heater Ignition Fault – Causes & Fixes

An ignition fault on AstralPool IXI and Zodiac JXi gas pool heaters means the heater cannot successfully light or maintain the burner flame during startup.

This is a common IXI and JXi heater fault and is usually caused by gas supply, ignition components, airflow problems, or another safety condition that prevents normal combustion.

This fault is also a common cause of heaters not igniting during startup.

Common Causes of an IXI or JXi Ignition Fault

  • No gas supply or low gas pressure
  • Faulty igniter
  • Burner not lighting correctly
  • Fan or airflow issue
  • Combustion problem
  • Loose wiring connection

Some ignition failures are also linked to airflow or combustion problems, which can appear alongside a High Flue Temperature fault.

How to Fix It

  • Check the gas supply is turned on
  • Confirm other gas appliances are operating normally
  • Check for normal fan operation
  • Inspect igniter and flame-related components
  • Restart the heater once after basic checks
